Gaydio Project - Salford Sound

What is it? 

A seven week radio production course aimed at the LGBT community in Salford.
Participants will learn all aspects of radio production and create content that will be broadcast on Gaydio – the worlds biggest LGBT radio station.
They aim to make a documentary looking at why LGBT people in Salford experience worse physical and mental health than the general population.

What exactly does it involve?
Over the course of the project students will attend seven 2 hour workshops which will include the following areas:
Understanding radio           The role of the producer in radio
Interview techniques          Journalism skills
Script writing                     Radio presentation

Participants will be encouraged to generate their own ideas and create engaging radio content. Some of the course will be based in Salford and the rest will be at Gaydio in Manchester so Participants will also get to visit Gaydio and see a real working radio station in action and use the studios.

Who’s running it?
Emma Goswell - breakfast co-presenter on Gaydio. Emma is a Sony award winning broadcast journalist with over 15 years experience in both commercial and BBC newsrooms.
